Electric bed
hand controls and junction boxes are without doubt the most-replaced parts on an electric bed,
regardless of manufacturer. Unfortunately, there are as many different
hand controls as there are beds out there. Shown below are the most common
of these controls. To make matters worse, the terminology of beds is not
the same throughout the industry. Some manufacturers for some reason refer
to their beds as "semi-electric" and "full-electric" (I always thought it was
electric or not - sort of why it's hard to be "semi-pregnant"...) and others
refer to "four function" and "six function". All we need to know is that
"semi-electric" is a four function bed (the head and foot sections are electric,
the high-low is manual, and the hand control has only four buttons), while the
"full-electric" is a six function bed (all motors are electric, and the hand
control has six buttons).
